Boo got stuck!

Here's something funny! Boo got stuck behing the dryer. This morning I heard a clatter on the other end of the house, but didn't pay much attention to it. I assumed the cats were playing around, but ten minutes later I heard an even louder and longer clatter. I got up and found Suey and Oreo hanging around the washer and dryer. This is what I saw.

Poor Boo! I had to move the dryer out a little and he finally go out on his own.

I had a adventurous weekend with my mom and got lots of good junk. She even got to show her rear end at one sale. It was our first sale Saturday morning and it was way out of the way. We walk in and see dealer type antiques and hobby lobby decor. Not only that, half of the stuff had a NFS sticker on it (can't they take the time to put stuff up?). Obviously this was not a true estate sale and rather it was a dealer trying to get rid of his stuff. To make matters worse the prices were outrageous. Just when we had just about made it through the tiny house, the person working the sale says that everything is half price unless you are a dealer. Well that just rubbed mom the wrong way. She mouths of that "there was no reason for her being there," and storms off. Maybe even stepping on his foot. I'm following close behind laughing all the way. Her temper flares very rarely but when it does, as long as you're not the one it targets, it's hilarious.

Here's some of my goodies!

I also found a box full of vintage cards and letters. The letters were fabulous. They are correspondence between a husband and wife during the 50s and 60s. Apparently the husband had to work out-of-town often and for long periods of time. The were like love letters, telling how much they loved each other and how much they couldn't wait to see each other. How sweet!

Save the Date Invites

Today I've been working on wedding plans. I'm getting married in July and quickly running out of time. We're getting married in St. Simon's Island so I decided to send out save the date invitations. Me being a girly girl I had to have glitter and wanted them to be unique. A few months ago I got the idea for them in Somerset Weddings. It's going to be a small wedding, but every time I thought I was done with them I thought of someone else to invite. I put my foot down and I am not making any more. If anyone else needs to be invited they'll just have to get the official invitation and that's it! I also made inserts that gave info about travel arrangements. For that I used a picture I found on the internet. It's a picture of a couple kissing and has a real vintage feel.

I also finished a pillow I've been working on for two days. I've had the fabric and trim for about four years. I thought I might put it on Etsy, but decided to keep it. I don't think I could get my money out of it. The fabric is silk and I don't have a clue how much the trim cost.

Broke as a Joke

This weekend was pretty much a flop. I only found one estate sale and almost everything was way out of my price range. It was one of those sales where there wasn't any junk. I wonder how someone can make through life without accumulating junk. I did find a kool Vera scarf and a battenberg lace shower curtain. The shower curtain was $5 which about broke me, but I think it was worth the investment. Later on I decided to investigate the thrift stores and that's were I found a beautiful Lefton compote. Surprisingly enough I could only find a small nick on the bottom of it. I couldn't believe the thrift store had something that nice that wasn't priced too high!

Yesterday and Today's Project

Monday I was disgusted with my cluttered closet in our extra bedroom, so I decided to clean it out (a project still going on today). After finding lost treasures I decided to also clean out the linen closet and the chest with all my sewing and crafting projects. Of course I've made a bigger mess, but I did accomplish an actual project. I went off on a tangent and decided to make a piece of altered art. During my dig in the depths of the closet I found a gold plastic frame that I had bought for .50. Hmmm..... IDEA, IDEA, IDEA! I painted the frame white and then used some old, stained hankies to make a beautiful wall decoration. I had to cut the trim from the base hanky, but I couldn't stand to see the trim go to waste. I used it to make flowers. I used another hanky that had holes and was stained. This one had some neat looking flowers that were unharmed. I dug around some more and found some kool buttons to use. I experimenting with Etsy to see if I can things that way.
